Capabilities

Cable Miles and miles of cable for high voltage and control. Within our capacity is completion of up to 4200 MCM lead (50 lbs per ft.) potheads included, 15 k.v. underground lead and underground dry, 69 k.v. cables c/w terminations, and all styles of stress cones and heat shrink installations -- including lead and potheads.

For computer installations, look to us for complete electrical wiring, including lighting and temperature controls.


Substation

SubstationIn the substation area, we offer 15 years continuous experience for 12 k.v., 69 k.v., 138 k.v., 230 k.v. and 500 k.v. installations. Assembly of very large transformers (up to 200 tons), and installation of bushings, radiators, conservator tanks, piping and electrical connections are regular contract requirements. As a prime contractor for B.C. Hydro, installations that often require 50 fully-loaded 45 ft. flat decks of material each, plus use of heavy cranes and equipment, are the order of the day.


Mechanical

MechanicalAnother section of United Power Ltd. -- our mechanical division. Projects include industrial piping and instrumentation, pressure welding for up to 26 in. pipe dimensions and the complete working mock up of the pulp mill at the Pacific Vocational Institute. We have also acted as prime contractor for installation of 3000 lb. high pressure systems on pumping stations, completed the mechanical portion of B.C. Hydro's warehouse complex in Surrey, and the total instrumentation package for Unit 4, Burrard Thermal Plant. Mechanical equipment includes MIG welding units for aluminum bus welding and several 900 lb. pressure air operation systems.

Simon Fraser University Shell Oil Refinery

Maintenance and renovation work - another major component of our company.

Years of experience in explosion-proof requirements and high performance scheduling and shutdown, have helped us obtain contracts like the renovation of the complete electrical system and maintenance for Simon Fraser University, plus maintenance for Shell oil refinery in Burnaby and virtually all of the mainland municipalities' streetlights and traffic signals.
